This month we’re screening: Mambar Pierrette by Rosine Mbakam (Cameroon and Belgium, 2023) 93 minutes VOSC

The start of the new school year means a busy time for dressmaker Mambar Pierette. From dawn till dusk, she sews school uniforms in her wooden hut in a slum in the Cameroonian city of Douala. But she always makes time to listen to the concerns of local residents and friends who drop by.

Shall we talk about cinema? is a film forum organised by the Museu del Cinema. It consists of ten annual sessions and reviews the history of the cinema through directors who have defined an era and influenced later generations.

This month we’re screening: The Big Lebowski by Joel Coen and Ethan Coen (United States, 1989) 117 minutes VOSE

When "The Dude" Lebowski is mistaken for a millionaire Lebowski, two thugs urinate on his rug to coerce him into paying a debt he knows nothing about. While attempting to gain recompense for the ruined rug from his wealthy counterpart, he accepts a one-time job with high pay-off. He enlists the help of his bowling buddy, Walter, a gun-toting Jewish-convert with anger issues. Deception leads to more trouble, and it soon seems that everyone from porn empire tycoons to nihilists want something from The Dude.

Where have the wishes gone? Are they lost? Did they hide? Where do people go when they walk if they don't know what they want? Are there wishes born from the clouds? or are there also desires that make us touch the ground?
Let's raise a joint reflection on the wishes we can have, that we can imagine also on how we can make them come true. At the end of the show, each participant will receive a magic kit to be able to craft their artifact to wish for: The Wish Compass!

“Five sequences to explain a masterpiece” is the starting point for this series of guided screenings. The speakers choose a film they regard as special and select five moments from the film. These excerpts are screened and analysed during the session. The cycle, merging the film forum and a talk, provides a chance to examine key works in the history of cinema and analyse them with the calm and detail they deserve.

Seth Brundle, a brilliant but eccentric scientist attempts to woo investigative journalist Veronica Quaife by offering her a scoop on his latest research in the field of matter transportation, which against all the expectations of the scientific establishment have proved successful. Up to a point. Brundle thinks he has ironed out the last problem when he successfully transports a living creature, but when he attempts to teleport himself a fly enters one of the transmission booths, and Brundle finds he is a changed man. This Science-Gone-Mad film is the source of the quotable quote "Be afraid. Be very afraid.

It is the autumn of 1957. The Whitakers, the very picture of a suburban family, make their home in Hartford, Connecticut. Their daily existence is characterized by carefully observed family etiquette, social events, and an overall desire to keep up with the Joneses. Cathy is the homemaker, wife and mother. Frank is the breadwinner, husband and father. They have two pre-teen children, a boy and a girl. A maid and a gardener complete the perfect household. All seems normal and uneventful, until one day Frank starts acting somewhat strange.

Match Point is a drama about a young man's rise in society and the terrible consequences of his ambition. The protagonist is torn between two women and finding no way out, resorts to extreme action. The story of an aging journalist who bitterly recollects his passionate, lost youth. A portrait of today's Rome. Journalist Jep Gambardella (Toni Servillo, 'Il divo' and 'Gomorrah') has charmed and seduced his way through the lavish nightlife of Rome for decades.
